Last Friday we had our first Family Dinner Night in the Guild Hall. While Fr. Seamus spoke about the family as the domestic church with the adults, I was on gym duty with the children, youth, and another catechist. The highlight was a game of Red Light, Green Light. It was so fun to have children from kindergarten through high school playing together. The next day I was speaking with one of the catechists, and in addition to expressing how it was more exercise than we've had in a while, we both agreed it was a joy to see people working together, communicating, and being silly. I hope we have more and more opportunities to gather parishioners together to build community among people of all ages. I think it is something that our Church is in a unique place to do. As we launch parish teams again for the fall, I hope you will consider engaging in ways for us all to come together and appreciate the gift of presence. We are settling into our K-12 religious education programs, as well as Sequitur. It is continuously encouraging to have many people engaged in these efforts. On the docket is the start of our sacrament preparation retreats, for children preparing to receive Confirmation and First Holy Communion. These four retreats throughout the year help the candidates and their families go deeper in their preparation and have an opportunity to reflect. Please keep these retreats and the candidates in prayer!
