People of all ages are invited to create art of Mary, the Immaculate Conception and share it with others at an art exhibit in the Cathedral for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on December 9, 2024. Beautiful artwork and artistry have been a part of our Catholic tradition from the very beginning. The image of the Immaculate Conception is especially iconic and is depicted in the stained glass of our Cathedral, which holds its namesake from this title of Our Lady. In honor of this special solemnity, we ask people of all artistic abilities, backgrounds, and ages to create art in any medium based of the Immaculate Conception. Art submissions can be dropped off between Sunday December 1st and Saturday December 7th. Art will be displayed in the Millennial Entrance of the Cathedral on Sunday, December 8th and Monday, December 9th. Please fill out the form below or email [email protected] with any questions. All artwork will be returned to the artist after Monday, December 9th.
"A glimmer of that feeling has shone so often in your eyes when—like the artists of every age—captivated by the hidden power of sounds and words, colors and shapes, you have admired the work of your inspiration, sensing in it some echo of the mystery of creation with which God, the sole creator of all things, has wished in some way to associate you." St. John Paul II, Letter to Artists
