Cathedral Advent Reflection Group
Parishioners are invited to an Advent small group on Saturday mornings at 9am. The group will reflect on the Sunday Gospel reading for that week. It will be a simple and peaceful way to journey through Advent together. Meetings will take place in the upper sacristy on 12/2, 12/9, 12/16, and 12/23.
St. Louis Advent Faith Sharing: Traveling to Bethlehem
Enter more deeply into the Advent season in a small faith sharing group at St. Louis Church. Meetings will be on the Sundays of Advent after Mass around 12:30pm on 12/3, 12/10, 12/17, and 12/24.
St. Peter’s Advent Activities for Families
You won’t want to miss a morning of Advent activities on Sunday, December 3rd after the 9am Mass at St. Peter’s. Your family can mark this first Sunday of Advent with wreath crafts and other fun activities. Of course, there will also be coffee and donuts to round off a great event!
Cathedral Family Advent Activities
Following the 10am Mass on Sunday, December 10th the Cathedral Guild Hall will become the destination for all things Advent activities: from crafts, to games, to learning about ways to make the season of Advent a fruitful time of preparation for the coming of Christ.
St. Christopher's Advent Wreath Making
All are welcome to stop by St. Christopher's Community room on Saturday, December 2nd. 10am-12pm.
Enjoy some goodies and coffee or tea and make and take an advent wreath. Advent calendaros and crafts for kids will be available. Take a chance on a unique Advent wreath with the proceeds of the drawing going to the Loretta Voyer Fund in memory of our long time parishioner. The winner will be drawn after Mass on Sunday, December 3rd, the First Sunday of Advent!
Vespers on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception
We will celebrate Solemn Vespers at the Cathedral on the eve of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, Thursday, December 7th at 5:30pm. All are invited to a reception afterward in the Guild Hall to enjoy some desserts. We look forward to celebrating this special day for our Church and in particular our church in Portland with our namesake of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Daily Advent Reading: The Magnificat Companion
On December 3rd, the first Sunday of Advent, copies of The Magnificat Advent Companion will be available at each of the churches. This book contains reflections on the Gospel readings for each day of Advent. It also includes other prayers and blessings for Advent wreaths, Christmas trees, and more. Copies will be first come first serve.
