As the leaves change we are reminded that different seasons bring new beauty. Last weekend as I sat in the Cathedral I noticed the same with the stained-glass windows. The light in the early evening radiated through some of the windows with a warm glow. I had never seen them look so beautiful. I'd imagine that the hands that made the windows many years ago would have desired everyone to see them lit up in this way. To catch these windows at the right time of day according to the season is a delight. In time, there will be different windows and different times of day that make for the right combination for a window to catch our eye.
The Portland Catholic Center for Faith is in a season where many programs are in full swing. We kicked off our sacrament preparation retreats for the year last weekend, are full steam ahead with Sequitur classes, and every week our custodial staff observe "time for the hundreds of kids to come for class!" It has been a great start to the fall. We have many parishioners who work hard each week to make these efforts happen. Going forward, I hope these programs can be strengthened and that we can continue to look for opportunities to share the Catholic faith with the greater Portland area. In these coming months, I would like to find some more parishioners to work with to advance the mission of the center for faith within our parishes. I am looking for at least 6 more people to help with various aspects of the mission of the Portland Catholic Center for Faith, including communications, pilgrimages, retreats, grant writing, evangelization, outreach, and more. Please contact me if you would like to discuss getting involved in one of these areas.
May this fall be filled with beauty that captures your attention!
