As we approach September, we are gearing up for several programs for the Portland Catholic Center for Faith: ·We are in the final stretch of preparing for kindergarten through 12th grade faith formation. The goal is for all children and youth in the parishes to participate in either Sundays from 11AM-12:30PM or Wednesdays from 3:30PM-5PM. As I mentioned at the beginning of the summer, the addition of a Sunday option, along with continuing Wednesday afternoons at the Guild Hall, has meant a doubling of our volunteer numbers. I set out with a goal of 50 catechists. Thanks be to God, we are approaching that number. I am grateful for all who have stepped forward to serve Christ through this ministry. And…you guessed it: we still need more. I’m hoping for about 10 more volunteers to join the team in the coming weeks. Please reach out to me if you would like to discuss this more. ·Sequitur, the course in the foundations of Catholicism for adults, will soon be launched on Wednesday, September 20th. I know you will find information about it in other areas of the bulletin, so I will be brief. Many people have had opportunities to learn about various subjects, career related growth, specialized areas of interest, but I don’t think many have had a chance to learn about faith as an adult in a systematic and comprehensive way. I hope you consider registering! ·If you or someone you know has been considering becoming Catholic, please reach out. September is a time when those in our parishes preparing to become Catholic go through the first rite in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. Please keep those becoming Catholic in prayer!
