Father Dominic Savio, HGN began ministering in the Diocese of Portland in April 2013. Prior to his assignment in the Portland Peninsula & Island Parishes on July 1, 2019, Father Savio served as parochial vicar of Corpus Christi Parish in Waterville and Winslow (April 2013-June 2016) and chaplain at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion, St. Mary’s Residence, and Central Maine Medical Center, all in Lewiston (July 2016-June 2019).
A native of Tamil Nadu, India, Father Savio began seminary formation in 1994 and was ordained to the priesthood on December 29, 2003. From January 2004 to May 2008, Father Savio served as parochial vicar at Saint Anthony’s Shrine in the Diocese of Madras-Mylapore in Tamil Nadu. From June 2008 to March 2013, he served as principal at the Good News School in the Diocese of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. Father Savio is a member of the Heralds of Good News (HGN), a missionary society of apostolic life started in India in 1984. The specific aim of the Heralds is to promote vocations to the priesthood and the training of seminarians.
